Away, come away..

Description

A painting inspired by some lines of the poem of William Butler Yeats "The hosting of the Sidhe"

"Empty your heart of its mortal dream..
Our cheeks are pale, our hair unbound..
The host is rushing twixt night and day..
And Niamh calling away come away.."

These are just a few lines of the poem, it is much longer but these are the lines that gave me the idea of this painting.

She could be Niamh calling you and inviting you to follow her to the faery masquerade . But it is said that it can be dangerous to follow a fairy espcially at nightfall.

I used a lot of mediums for this painting : various washes of watercolor and inks for the background and touches of golden acrylic ink. I also use white, gold and silver pigment ink pens for the will-o'-the- wisps and the details on her dress and the mask.

I hope you like this new fairy ! :)
